In Northern Alberta, early 2018, Sawback Technologies was requested to take imagery of ice heaves.

The ice heaves had taken place on the north shore of a lake in Northern Alberta, over a 25 kilometer stretch.  To help in assessment by both insurance, and the provincial Environment department, the client requested imagery of the affected areas.

Challenges that were encountered were variable lighting conditions, snow covered features, high winds, and winter conditions.  However, Sawback Technologies was able to successfully carry out imaging of the entire area, in a full day of flights.  Coordination between all involved agencies resulted in expectations that were exceeded, when we delivered several gigabyte-sized orthomosaics, complete with DEM and contour analysis to the client, within 72 hours.
